plantenkwekerij De Kemp BV was founded by my parents , Wim and Mien Litjens. More then 40 years ago they started as producers of strawberries and apples. Due to the big demand for quality plantmaterial they soon started with the commercial propagation of strawberryplants and stopped the productionactivities. In the following years they also started with the cultivation of asparaguscrowns. In the beginning most plants were sold in Holland but soon my fahter crossed the border to Germany and Belgium in order to sell plants to strawberry- and aparagusproducers over there. In  following years the main activities were expanded with the production of rootstocks for the production of Apple-trees.

After having ended my studies in 1995, I came into the business and became responsible for sales and partly for the cultivation of the strawberry- and asparaguscrowns. At that time the mainactivities had grown so much that we stopped with the production of apples in 1997. In 2003 my parents gave me the opportunity to take over the business.

Now more then forty years after my parents had started, our company has grown to become one of the leading companies in the production of high quality strawberryplants and asparaguscrowns in Europe. At his moment we employ 10 permanent staff and up to 115 seasonal workers. All this to insure the high quality standards and to be quick-witted in moments that its needed. We deliver plants directly in more then fourteen countries in and outside of Europe.
