FD1604 is an everbearing selection that produces attractive, tasty fruit. The FD1604 strawberries are of a constant, elongated conical shape, bright red, firm and not very susceptible to bruising. When grown on table tops, FD1604 is characterised by fairly constant harvesting, with yields that are larger than those of Sweet Eve. FD1604 has a very good flavour thanks to its constant, high Brix value and alluring strawberry aroma.

FD1604 plants are rather large, with sturdy leaf stems and flower stalks and large leaves. The relatively long flower stalks form few flowers, resulting in a fairly constant fruit weight. Extra attention should be given to the detection and preventive control of Phytophthora cactorum and powdery mildew.

FD1604 will produce the best fruit from heavy plants, so growers are advised to plant FD1604 cuttings early in trays with a large volume, in which they will be able to form many stalks.
